| CARIFTA Games | NIHERST/ NGC Science Centre |
|
Do you know that since 2003 NGC has been a regional sponsor of the
Carifta Games? St. Lucia hosted the 2009 edition and the Trinidad
and Tobago team won 29 medals- 9 gold, 10 silver and 10 bronze. NGC
has been with the Games which so far have been held in Trinidad,
Bermuda, Tobago, Guadeloupe, Turks and Caicos Islands, St. Kitts
and, of course, St. Lucia. the Cayman Islands will host the 2010
games. |
Since 1997, NGC has been a partner with NIHERST in the establishment of a National Science Centre to widen the reach of science and technology and to promote a love and popular understanding of science. NGC's involvement in this project is testimony to its long-term vision for Trinidad and Tobago as a major player in the global natural gas industry. This involvement with NIHERST has also led the company to also sponsor the NIHERST Science Whizz Competition for young inventors. |

THA Annual Primary Schools' Agricultural Comp. |
|
In the early to late 1990s, NGC constructed or refurbished 43 basketball courts throughout Trinidad and Tobago. Since 2000, NGC has been sponsor of the Trinidad and Tobago Schools' Basketball League. Promoting such popular sport at a school level leaves the way wide open for the development of future champions at the international level, as well as providing a large number of children with a means of healthy self-expression and team involvement. |
Since 2005, NGC has been the sole sponsor of the THAT Annual Primary Schools' Agricultural Science competition which seeks to expose children to the merits of agronomy and livestock rearing. In 2008, 33 out of 39 schools participated in the competition.

| Primary School Games | Heroes Foundation |
|
NGC provides sponsorship of primary school games not because it is
the right thing to do but because NGC recognizes the benefit that
sport and physical activity contribute to the wellbeing of
individuals, especially the young ones in the society. NGC began sponsorship of the Caroni Education District Primary School games in 1995. This was one of the first sustained sponsorship programmes undertaken by a new formed Community Relations Department within NGC. Since that period NGC moved to also sponsor the Moruga Zonal Games in 2004, and the school games of the St. Patrick Education District, in 2006. Despite the differences in each group, one key element that is constant is NGC's commitment to make a positive impact, through sport on children. NGC also strives to share learning with the respective committees on technical assistance and event management skills to ensure the efficient administration of the Primary School Games. |
TThe Heroes Foundation is a non-profit organisation (NGO) whose
mission is "to provide a source of inspiration for the youth of
Trinidad and Tobago, by fostering an appreciation of Heroes and
Achiever". This organisation has held Heroes Conventions make a
positive impact on youth by inspiring them to work towards a
brighter future by providing icons whom they could admire and
emulate and has focused on the cause of the differently abled heroes
in Trinidad and Tobago. NGC provides support to the between the
Heroes Foundation because it and our Community Relations programme
both focus on youth development and the development of a sense of
patriotic self-worth and nationhood. |
