The Sanfest National Junior Arts Festival  Preliminaries will take place from September 28th to November 10th  at venues across the country.  These venues are The Creative Arts Centre in San Fernando (September 28th to October 6th), the Auditorium, Port-of-Spain City Hall (October 5th to 8th) Trinity College, East (October 14-16) North Eastern College (October 12th  & 13th), Fyzabad Composite (October 12th – 14th) and Tobago (October 14th -16th).

Copies of the 2009 arts festival syllabus are available at all Educational District Offices or at The Creative Arts Centre.  Closing Date for entries was September 18th.  In 2008, the festival recorded its highest number of participating schools with a 100% increase in Secondary School participation. The standard was also extremely high making the selection of winners in each category a difficult task.

Walid Baksh, Festival Director, said that this year promises to be even bigger as several new schools have indicated their interest in participating.

The Finals take place at the Creative Arts Centre in San Fernando from October 26th – November 5th. There are Certificates, Medals, Books, CD-players, Musical Instruments, Plaques, Cash and Trophies to be won.  Principals are urged to grasp this opportunity to showcase their pupils’ talents in friendly rivalry to boost their self-esteem.
