In support of the vibrant culture of our sister isle, The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) provided partial sponsorship of the Belle Garden Belé Festival of the 2009 Tobago Heritage Festival to the tune of TT$95,000. The Tobago Heritage Festival ran from July 17 to August 1 under the theme, “One One Cocoa Full Basket”.

The Belle Garden Belé Festival occurred on July 22, 2009. NGC made this contribution to this event because it was one where the focus was on local culture, in particular authentic folk arts such as traditional folk songs; speech bands and traditional Tobago speeches.

For the past several years, NGC has made an annual contribution of $15,000 to this annual event. In 2007, in recognition’s of the Festival’s 20^th Anniversary, NGC made a $92,000 contribution to the Festival.

NGC also sponsored the first place prize for the Tobago House of Assembly’s 6th Annual Tobago Commercial Fishing Tournament – a 27-foot, fishing pirogue worth TT$45,000. The tournament was held on June 18 & 19 2009.
