Chairman NGC has a new Chairman of its Board of Directors. Mr. Malcolm A. Jones, former General Manager and Managing Director of The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) from 1984-1996, has been appointed to the position. Mr. Jones, who brings over 40 years of gas industry experience to the table, was appointed on Friday 24 July 2009. Under his leadership, NGC experienced a significant growth in sales of natural gas and in profitability. Specific highlights of his tenure include:
In 2004, Mr. Jones’ accomplishments and contributions to the energy sector were formally recognised when he was awarded the Chaconia Medal (Gold) for long and meritorious service in the sphere of National Economic Development. He was also awarded a Career of Excellence in Engineering by the Executive Council of the Association of Professional Engineers of Trinidad and Tobago (APETT) in that same year. In 2007, he was the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering and Entrepreneurship from the University of Trinidad and Tobago Limited. It is noteworthy that Mr. Jones played an important role in the development of the Point Lisas Industrial Estate. From June 1981 to December 1983, as Head Methanol and Urea Divisions of the National Energy Corporation of Trinidad and Tobago Limited, he was responsible for the construction of both the Trinidad and Tobago Methanol and Trinidad and Tobago Urea Plants. Throughout his career, he served on several boards in the energy sector including the Boards of TRINTOC, NGC, National Energy Corporation (NEC) Phoenix Park Gas Processors Limited, Fertilizers of Trinidad and Tobago Limited and Trinidad Nitrogen Company of Limited, as well as on the Board of National Maintenance, Training and Security Company. |

The Board of Directors Mr. Clarence L. Mitchell - Director Mr. Mitchell is an Electrical Engineer by profession and a former T&TEC/PowerGen plant manager with 41 years experience in the power industry. A member of APETT, the Board of Engineering of Trinidad and Tobago and a Melvin Jones Fellow and Life Member of the International Association of Lions Clubs serving at the district level, Mr. Mitchell is also a Licensed Examiner for Boiler and Air Pressure Vessels, Hoists and Lifts - Ministry of Labour and Co-operatives. He has been a Board Member of NHSL for the past five years and was formerly Chairman of LABIDCO, a subsidiary of NGC that operates the La Brea Industrial Estate. |

Dr. Cheryl A. Bennett (Ph.D.) – Director Dr. Cheryl A. Bennett is currently attached to the Cipriani Labour College. She was previously an Associate Provost - Quality Assurance & Accreditation at UTT. She was also a member of the senior administration of the academic side of the university. Previous to UTT, Dr. Bennett was a Lecturer of Physiology at the Faculty of Medical Sciences, Renal and Body Fluids, Endocrine and Reproductive Physiology at UWI and a member of the Problem Developing Group for Endocrine, Reproduction and Development PBL Course. Dr. Bennett was also a Member of the Problem Developing Group, Cardiorenal Course and an Associate Dean, Undergraduate Students’ Affairs - Faculty of Medical Sciences. Dr. Bennett obtained her doctorate in Human Physiology from UWI, Mona, Jamaica and MBA from UWI at St. Augustine. |

Mrs. Carol Pilgrim-Bristol – Director Mrs. Pilgrim-Bristol is a lawyer by profession having been admitted to the local Bar in 1982. In 1984 she entered the chambers of Algernon Wharton where she mastered Corporate Law at all levels of court. In 1989 she left private practice and joined Trintoc as a Legal Officer. In 1994, she was appointed Corporate Secretary of Petrotrin, making her the first woman in the local oil sub-sector to be afforded such an honour. In 1998, Mrs. Pilgrim-Bristol became the Executive Assistant to the President of Petrotrin, and was later appointed Project Advisor to the Business Development Group. In 2000, she was appointed to the position of Corporate Secretary/Legal Advisor, Trinmar. Currently, she is pursuing the Henley Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Mrs. Pilgrim Bristol currently holds the position of General Manager, Industrial Relations and Corporate Services at Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (Petrotrin). |

Mr. Lisle Ramyad - Director Mr. Ramyad is now a retired Petroleum Engineer with approximately 35 years’ service in the petroleum industry. He is a founding member of the Trinidad and Tobago Chapter of the Society Petroleum Engineers and was awarded the Distinguished Engineer of the Year Award in 1997. Mr Ramyad served as Chairman of Trintomar from 1993 to April 1998, and Project executive, Offshore Business Development at Petrotrin from 1998 to 2002. While at Petrotrin Mr. Ramyad was responsible for the administration of contracts covering approximately 50 joint ventures, and the identification of new areas and opportunities for additional joint ventures. Mr. Ramyad is married, and is an Elder in the Princes Town Presbyterian Church. |

Mr. Wilson Lalla - Director Mr. Wilson Lalla is at present a Consultant with Trinidad Geosciences Consultants Ltd. and a part-time Lecturer in Geosciences at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. His most recent position prior to this was that of Manager, Exploration and Joint Ventures at Petrotrin. He has had over 37 years’ experience in the field of Geology. A former student of Presentation College, San Fernando, he attained his first degree at the University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, and went on to further his education at the University of Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the United States. He has since published a number of technical papers and studies, and counts among his major achievements several successful proposals for exploration and exploitation in Trinidad and the Gulf of Mexico; the first oil discovery on land within a 40-year period; and the training and development of young geoscientists |

Mr. David Small – Director Mr. Small is an MBA graduate from the University of Middlesex, London. He also attended the College of Petroleum and Energy Studies in Oxford, UK where he was awarded his postgraduate diploma in Natural Gas Economics and Management. He is also the holder of a Diploma in Public Administration from UWI and the Association of Business Executives’ Advanced Diploma in Business Administration. Mr. Small brings to NGC over seventeen years’ experience in the Energy Sector. He holds the position of Director of Policy and Performance at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries. In addition, he is a Director of NGC LNG Trinidad Limited, a subsidiary company of NGC, overseeing the company’s stake in the Atlantic LNG plant. |
